Hired by Canadian Football League in 1984, worked eight Grey Cups and 318 games in 20 seasons as an on-field official before becoming off-field supervisor
Joined Regina Football Officials Association in 1972 and served on the Executive for 20 years, including a stint as President
After retiring from CFL he resumed officiating amateur games, drawing accolades for his approachability and also helped mentor new officials
Received Award of Merit in 2000 from Regina High Schools Athletic Association, Kiwanis Dad of the Year in 1996 and honoured by Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2000 for developing amateur football in the province

Referee-in-chief for Saskatchewan Amateur Hockey Association 1973-79; organized and first leader of Regina Hockey Officials Association in 1970.
Set up provincial programs that were duplicated nationally; established clinics for instructors and referees, holding them in communities throughout Saskatchewan … developed manuals and casebook for on-ice situations, which included rules interpretations he had adopted by Canadian Amateur Hockey Association.
Saskatchewan’s registered officials grew from 300 to 1,000 during his tenure … strengthened reputation of local officials, helping Regina’s Andy Lagasse work 1976 Canada Cup, Kent Stuart work the 1980 Olympics and two others attend first Level Six seminar.

Affiliation with swimming began as YMCA instructor in 1956; assistant coach of Regina YM/YWCA Swim Club 1960-66; head coach Regina Optimist Dolphin Swim Club 1966-73 and assistant 1992-96; head coach Regina Masters Swim Club 1987-90 and 1997-99; Saskatchewan coach for 1979 Western Canada Games after being an official in 1976 and 1978
Had numerous athletes qualify for youth, junior and senior nationals, including Mike Kanuka, who set 11 Canadian records as a 10-year-old in 1971 and three records the next season.
Master Official; served on executive of Saskatchewan Swimming Association, Regina Dolphins and coaches association; began swimming competitively as a senior and, at 82, held 38 Saskatchewan masters records in short and long courses.

One of the founding directors of the Western Major Fastball League in the early 1970’s and instrumental in forming the Mid-West Fastball League in 1983 with teams from Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Began association with fastball as equipment manager/trainer of Regina Carlings 1968-75; coached Regina Molsons 1976-81 and also served as general manager 1982-86.
Molsons won WMFL division pennant in 1977 and attended world softball championships in Kimberley, Wisconsin, placing third, highest finish by a Canadian squad at the time.
