Danny Banda - (2026)

- Danny Banda’s athletic excellence was highlighted in the late 1950s and early 1960s, when he played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and spent the winters starring in hockey’s senior ranks with the Regina Capitals.
- At 5-foot-9 and 155 pounds, Banda was primarily a defensive back and punt returner with the Roughriders. He also saw duty at linebacker, despite his modest size.
- Banda’s fearless nature was accentuated in 1959 and 1960, when he was prominent on special teams at a time when the CFL prohibited blocking on punt returns. He fielded 37 punts in 1959 and 60 the following year.
- Banda added seven career interceptions, including three in 1958 and 1959. Previously, he had played football at Balfour and with the Regina Rams junior team.
- In the same calendar year 1957 Banda played football (for the Rams), hockey (Melville Millionaires) and baseball (Regina Red Sox).
- Long after his football career, he was a prolific scorer and dazzling skater with the Capitals.
