Founded Regina Red Sox as a new franchise in the Western Major Baseball League in 2005, with Brotzel as president and Eiswirth as general manager, roles they held through to the year of their Hall inductions. Responsible initially for finances, sponsorships, player/coach recruitment and establishing a board with the extra purpose of upgrading the city’s baseball facilities.
Won their first league championship in 2011 and repeated in 2012; served leadership roles within the league.
Played baseball while growing up, Eiswirth in Regina while Brotzel, from Cupar, also excelled as a fastball pitcher. Became volunteer coaches – frequently coaching together – when their children started playing sports, enjoying numerous successes through the decades.
Decided in 2004 to retain the traditional, well-known Regina Red Sox moniker while building the franchise, which has become a strong supporter of local baseball programs.
