The 2006 Regina Squids men’s water polo team made Saskatchewan sports history by capturing the senior men’s tier 1 title at the Canadian National Water Polo League Championship, the highest level of club competition in Canada. It was the first men’s national water polo championship won by a Saskatchewan-based team.
The Squids defeated the Hamilton Aquatics 15-8 in the championship game, played on May 21, 2006 in Montreal.
Kevin Graham, Noah Miller and Robin Randall were named to the league’s allstar team. Graham also earned Most Valuable Player honours. The roster consisted of Graham, Miller, Randall, Petros Aiginitis, Justin Beitel, Mike Brough, Taso Harbis, Andre Koch, Luke Murtha, Robert Pesun and Mark Smorong, Mike Morun was Head Coach and Peggy Smorong, Manager. Miller was the team Captain.
Graham led the tournament in goals (17). Miller was second in goals, with 15. The Squids led the event in shooting accuracy (50 per cent), limiting opponents to 35 per cent.
