  • General Manager of Pats for six seasons, including 1974 Memorial Cup champions
  • Chairman of WCHL and Canadian Major Junior Hockey League, WHL president and referee-in-chief
  • Montreal Canadiens scout from 1949-95
  • Received WHL Board of Governors Award in 2005
  • Prestigious golf career led to representing Saskatchewan on Willingdon Cup golf teams in 1953, 1955, 1957 and 1958
  • Served as Pro at Craig and Murray golf courses

Chiga George

  • Born in Regina, played softball in Whitewood
  • Member of the YMCA and Regina Wrestling Club in mid-1930’s under supervision of Jim Trifunov
  • Played for the home-town Regina Roughriders Football Club as right guard from 1934-36
  • -Won heavyweight championship at 1936 Canadian Olympic wrestling trials, repeating in 1937
  • Represented Canada at Berlin Olympics in 1936, where he was recruited to wrestle for Oklahoma State University
  • While on wrestling team from 1937-40, the team was never beaten in inter-university wrestling tournaments
  • Ultimately earned honours degrees and placed second in U.S. wrestling championships
  • Served in Second World War, practiced law and became a judge before earning laurels for improving breeding of beef cattle
  • Served as governor of National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in Oklahoma

Shepherd Tom

by

  • Won provincial championship playing high school football as middle linebacker at Balfour Tech in 1960
  • Recruited by Scotty Livingstone to help as a volunteer with junior football Regina Rams, serving as Treasurer and helping to get the team’s clubhouse built
  • Honourary Life Member of the Regina Rams
  • Treasurer for 25 years with Gordon Currie Youth Development Fund
  • Spent 23 years as Saskatchewan Roughriders treasurer until 2001
  • Roughrider Team President in 1989 when the franchise won its second Grey Cup
  • Co-founder of team’s Plaza of Honor annual dinner and spear-headed multi-million dollar fund-raising efforts as chairman of Friends of the Riders Lottery
  • Received CFL Commissioner’s Award in 1992 for outstanding contributions to Canadian football
  • On Board of Directors for 1995 and 2003 Grey Cups hosted in Regina
  • Inducted into Riders’ Plaza of Honor in 1995
  • Received the Chartered Accountants Distinguished Service Award for Community Service
  • Awarded Province of Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal in 2005

Peterson Kit

  • Began playing handball at University of Winnipeg in 1969
  • Won Molson’s tournament in 1970 and Niagara Falls Open in 1971
  • Moved to Regina in 1974 and played competitively until 1992
  • During nine-year retirement taught junior and women’s handball classes
  • Placed first or second in over 300 tournaments
  • Winner of 18 Saskatchewan Closed singles titles and 20 Saskatchewan Closed doubles titles throughout the 1970’s, ‘S0’s and ’90’s
  • Won 10 Saskatchewan Open doubles up to 2006
  • Canadian over-3S singles champion in 1991, over-40 singles champion in 1992 and over-SO finalist in 2004
  • Placed third with Merv Deckert in over-SO doubles at 2003 world championships in Dublin, Ireland

Holt Rhonda

by

  • Placed second in 14-under girls doubles at 1987 Canadian junior racquetball championships
  • Won 14-under singles in ’88 and runner-up in 14-under doubles
  • Teamed with Nathalie Bernard to win 18-under doubles at international championships, also placed third in 14-under singles and received gold medal for sportsmanship in 1988
  • Won gold in 16-under singles at 1989 Canadian championships
  • Teamed with Lori-Jane Powell at internationals in 1989 to place second in 18-under doubles and was third in 16-under singles
  • Gold medalist at 1990 Canadian championships in 16-under singles, silver medalist in 18-under doubles
  • 1990 International Racquetball Federation’s world champion in 16-under singles
  • Silver medal in 18-under singles at 1991 Canadians

Kyle George Rink 2005

  • Kyle George (skip), Justin Mihalicz (third), D.J. Kidby (second), Christopher Hebert (lead), Dwayne Mihalicz (coach), Dustin Kidby (fifth)
  • Won 2005 provincial junior men’s curling championship
  • Became first Saskatchewan rink to win the Canadian and world junior men’s crowns
  • Won eight-team provincial championship in Whitewood
  • Posted 8-2 record in round robin of Canadian championship in Fredericton to earn bye into the final and beat Ontario’s Mark Bice rink 8-5 in final
  • At world’s in Pinerolo, Italy, placed fourth in round-robin at 6-3, beat Scotland 6-2 in semi-final and Sweden’s Nils Carlsen 6-5 in an extra-end final
  • SaskSport Team of the Year in 2005
  • Named to Saskatchewan Curling Association Legends of Curling Honour Roll
