Budram and his son, Richard, played cricket before focusing on promoting the sport. Budram helped create the Saskatchewan Cricket Association in 1972 and served as president from 1977-90, working with Cricket Canada as a two-time manager of national teams traveling overseas.
During Richard’s 40 years as a player he represented Saskatchewan on national junior and senior teams as the city’s league grew from four to 45 teams with 650 players, with room to grow because of his work with the Regina Cricket Association and the Cavaliers Sports and Social Club to develop new playing grounds in Regina.
Their work has helped develop the SaskTel Junior Cricket Circuit, Snow Cricket at Winterfest, Canada Day exhibitions, promotional events, learn-to-play clinics and the Doug Hunter Memorial High School League, which ensures the sport has a presence in the schools and community.
