Janine Pottage, whose surname was Polischuk during her accomplished career in athletics, starred in track and field at the high school, university, national and international levels.
Competing for Sheldon-Williams Collegiate, she set eight Regina High Schools Athletic Association records in three age categories.
Polischuk excelled collegiately at San Diego State University (2004-05) and the University of Regina (2007-09), earning numerous medals on both sides of the border.
With the U of R, she dominated at the CIS (now U Sports) level in 2008 (three gold medals; national championships’ MVP) and 2009 (gold, silver, bronze). In 2009, she was the CIS field athlete of the year and a repeat winner as the U of R Cougars’ top female athlete.
Polischuk has been enshrined in the U of R Sports Hall of Fame (2017) and Canada West Hall of Fame (2020-21).
She won medals in heptathlon at the 2001 Canadian junior championships (gold) and 2003 Pan American Junior Games (bronze).
