Kaplan was born September 14, 1913 in Brandon and died May 19, 1982
Became involved in men’s fastball league in 1958 after forming the Army and Navy Bombers women’s team, for whom he was general manager/coach from 1939-40 & 1946-57
The Bombers won six city championships under his guidance, and as GM/coach with Regina Royals it won several city championships and tournaments
Kaplan Field was home for the Regina Carlings and Regina Molsons senior men’s teams, in which Kaplan managed during his 43 years of involvement with fastball
City of Regina Mayor Henry Baker honored Kaplan’s contributions to the sport and community in 1970 by naming Regina’s premier fastball facility Kaplan field
Became a founding partner of the Western Major Fastball League in 1973 , along with teams from Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary
1976 B’Nai Brith Sportsman of the Year
Molsons won 1977 WMFL pennant with .689 winning percentage, earning an invitation to 1978 International Softball Congress championship in Kimberly, Wisconsin, where a thirdplace finish was awarded. (The highest for any previous Canadian team)
1980 Regina Sportsman Personality of the Year
