Worked with faculty, staff and students to use experimental voice-recognition technology for notes, assignments and exams required to complete a Bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Regina after being paralyzed during 1987 Western Hockey League game… Conferred an additional honorary Doctor of Laws degree in 2018 for his inspirational, educational and community work.
Excellent hockey player with Regina Pat Canadians, chosen captain of Team West in 1985-86 Esso Cup and represented Canada internationally before joining hometown Regina Pats, who have retired his number 8. WHL annually presents Brad Hornung Trophy to the league’s most sportsmanlike player.
Hired as an intern by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2001, ultimately becoming a scout for the team and a member of NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau for decades, sending him to games throughout the province and attending the league’s annual amateur draft.
