- Joined the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1965 playing until 1976
- Played slotback, punter, halfback and defensive back
- Played in 179 consecutive games – holds team records for career punts and yards and the Grey Cup mark of an 87-yard punt
- Played in five Grey Cup games – 1966, 1967, 1969, 1972 and 1976
- Was an assistant coach with the Riders in 1980 and assistant general manager from 1985 to 1988
- Was Roughriders’ general manager from 1988 to 1999
- Won two Grey Cups – in 1966 as a player and in 1989 as general manager
- Elected to Roughriders’ Plaza of Honor in 1991
